In 2011 Jaroslav Kulhavy claimed the first ever World Cup victory on an Epic 29er, at round two Dalby Forest England. While Kulhavy's team mates were on a combination of26 inch and 29 inch hard tail's, Stump Jumper's and Era's, Kulhavy chose the Epic 29er a full suspension, carbon fiber S-Works. "Jaroslav - he loves the 29er Epic a lot so he's gonna try and do some damage on that bike" said Beno Willeit, the Specialized team's On-road & Equipment Manager.
An important victory came in round six as Kulhavy won in his home country the Czech Republic. Kulhavy went on to take the World Cup title. No one could stop the Czech's winning form in 2011, Kulhavy stormed ahead in the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships at Champery, dismantling the field and staking claim to the world title.
Planet Cycles customized a 2011 Specialized S-Works Epic 29er, running Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 componentry.
